Relationships are central to both our personal and professional lives yet most of us aren’t taught relationship skills nor do we have an easy to use framework for ensuring our relationships are successful.

For many years participants in my Desired Futures for Individuals program have provided three consistent themes in the feedback:

1. Great personal and professional relationships share the same characteristics.
2. “This is a great program than makes a big difference to my life”; and,
3. “I wish my partner was doing this program with me”.

When running the corporate program over multiple days this feedback was multiplied as participants went home and returned the following day or week having worked on their personal plan for creating their Desired Future with their partner and decided “we both need to do this and then do it together”.

At the same time as I was getting this feedback my wife Sue and I were developing www.Partnerunning.com and planning to put our relationship approach to the ultimate test by running 8 marathons in 8 countries in 8 weeks. The purpose of the trip was to combine business and pleasure as we promoted healthy relationships and the value of working together.
